## Lesson Plan: Oral Counting and Identification of Numbers 0-90
### Objective:
By the end of this lesson, Nursery 1 students will be able to:
1. Orally count from 0 to 90.
2. Recognize and identify numbers from 0 to 90.
### Materials Needed:
- Number flashcards (0-90)
- Colored markers
- Number chart (0-90)
- Large floor number mat or tiles (optional)
- Songs or chants for counting
- Storybook focused on numbers (if available)
- Interactive number games (e.g., counting apps or online resources)
### Duration:
45 minutes
### Lesson Structure:
#### **1. Introduction (5 minutes):**
- Welcome the students and introduce the topic.
- Briefly explain what they will learn today: counting and recognizing numbers from 0 to 90.
#### **2. Warm-Up Activity (5 minutes):**
- Sing a counting song with actions (e.g., "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Once I Caught a Fish Alive").
- Encourage children to join in the singing and actions.
#### **3. Main Activity (20 minutes):**
**a. Counting Practice (10 minutes):**
- Use a number chart and point to each number as you count together from 0 to 90.
- Repeat the counting a few times, encouraging the children to say the numbers out loud with you.
**b. Number Recognition Game (10 minutes):**
- Scatter number flashcards (0-90) on the floor or around the room.
- Call out a number and ask a child to find that number among the flashcards and hold it up.
- Alternatively, use a large floor number mat and have children step on the corresponding number as you call it out.
#### **4. Group Activity (10 minutes):**
- Organize the students in small groups.
- Give each group a set of number flashcards (0-90) and ask them to arrange the numbers in order.
- Walk around and assist the groups to ensure correct sequencing.
#### **5. Story Time (5 minutes):**
- Read a storybook that includes numbers or counting within its narrative.
- Ask questions related to the numbers in the story and encourage children to answer.
#### **6. Review and Wrap-Up (5 minutes):**
- Recap the key points of the lesson: counting to 90 and recognizing numbers.
- Engage in a quick oral review by asking random students to count from a said number to another (e.g., "Can you count from 45 to 60?").
- Praise and encourage the children for their efforts.
### Homework/At-Home Activity:
- Ask parents to practice counting from 0 to 90 with their children at home.
- Suggest parents use number-related songs or apps to make practice fun and engaging.
### Assessment:
- Observe students during activities for active participation and correct identification of numbers.
- Conduct a simple oral quiz at the end of the lesson, where each student counts a short sequence or identifies a few randomly selected numbers.
### Reflection:
- After the lesson, note which students may need more practice with certain numbers or counting sequences.
- Adjust future teaching strategies based on observations to better support student learning needs.
